Health and Wellness

Health and wellness is affected by the foods that a person eats, the physical activities that a person participates in and the lifestyle in which they lead.

Eating a diet that is low in fats and "bad"carbohydrates", while eating foods that are high in protein and fiber tend to have a strong positive effect on not just the physical but the mental health of a person. Organic foods are also important in order to avoid toxins contained in herbicides and pesticides that are commonly used to grow foods in the American agricultural industry. This is true as well for avoiding processed foods. Whole grains are the key.

Avoiding foods that are known to be carcinogenic such as red meat is best for optimum health.

Being physically active and getting at least 40 minutes of exercise four to seven days per week is important in physical (and mental) health and wellness. It also helps in maintaining a healthy body weight, blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

On another track, health and wellness also is dependent on living in a place that has pleasant surroundings. When a person lives in a run-down area with "eye-sores" abound, it adversely affects not just their mental state but their physical well being as well.

Working in a job that you enjoy is good for your health. Working for a company that is high-stress and merely money-motivated has a negative impact on health.
