Food wise I have stopped eating MOST gluten products and MOST other grains for that matter because they seem to make me feel bloated and tired. I have limited my fat intake to 20% of my daily intake because at my age... in my late 40s I want to take off about 30 extra lbs and not get out of control with it.
I have started using a pedometer to make sure that I am active enough during each day
I joined weight watchers with my cousin three weeks ago and so far I have lost 4 lbs. I know it is not much but I won't give up on it.
My husband is a heath food fanatic--- that is him below....with our golden retriever Amber.
Please bare with me.. as this is in fact relevant! He was diagnosed with diabetes 14 years ago in Australia... where he lived most of his life. He was put on medication that made him feel "weird" as he describes it.. so he simply stopped taking the blood sugar medication and started eating in a logical way for lowering his blood sugar naturally. This included- and still includes eating whole grains, minimal sugars and the least processed foods that he could find. After two years in the United States, he was told by a doctor that he was NOT diabetic and that he apparently cured himself with his diet.
So.... here I am bringing all kinds of foods that are fine for myself and my daughter to eat, yet he is will not touch because he is very strict on what he chooses to eat. I like to eat a lot of fruit and some of it he gets downright ticked off at me for bringing home... such as watermelon or pineapple ... he said that they both have "too much sugar" so I should not eat it. (I am not diabetic!)
Everything he doesn't like he says is "POISON". I agree that soda pop may be poison however... not fruit! Oh... and bananas are poison as well according to him!
Stewart, my husband after 7 years of marriage has finally stopped making snide remarks about my fruit! He simply gives it a dirty look and glares at it when he sees me with it. I don't think he will EVER accept that what may not be okay for him is still okay for myself and my daughter to eat.
